Lucas Oil Off Road - Currie Wins Inaugural Huseman Cup
Anaheim Hills, Oct.8, 2012: “Huseman was a Champion and a family
man; someone I look up to and want to follow. To win a cup in his and his
brother Jeff’s name is completely humbling and just amazing.”
– Pro Lite World Champion, Casey Currie.
This weekend Casey Currie put it all on the line against the east
coast's greatest drivers in the Torc Traxxas inaugural Huseman Cup race in
Antelope Valley. With the highest paying cash purse in Short Course Off
Road on the table, Casey took home the $15k 1st place cup in honor of the
late Short Course Champion, Rick Huseman, and brother Jeff.
The $65k Rick Huseman Memorial Cup and the $20k+ Traxxas Cup in memory
of Jeff Huseman, would be the largest single-day purse in the history of
Short Course Off Road Racing. Sunday’s cup race was an all out,
15-lap battle with Keegan Kincaid for Casey, who strategically picked off
Kincaid on the very last lap for the win, taking the 1st place $15k cup
prize.
“It was an awesome battle out there!” Casey said of his
flag-to-flag battle with Keegan Kincaid. “We were pushing hard from
the first lap to the last. I’m so stoked for my team, stoked for
everyone. To take home the season cup is awesome to show that the west
coast is better than the east coast, I can’t complain!”
