MUNICH - May 6, 2014: Thirty years ago, BMW introduced the first
M-model of its 5-Series sedan. Such a fact is a good reason to come up with
a special edition. In this case a limited run of only 300 units to be
offered to customers worldwide.
The ’30 Jahre M5’ is not only the most powerful M5 so
far, it is also the most powerful car in the history of the brand.
The exclusive model will be presented on May 24 during the Villa
d’Este Concours d’Elegance on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.
This M5’s 4.4-liter V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine produces 441
kW/600 hp with 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, allowing tit to reach 62 mph
from a standstill in less than 4 counts. May be, its owners will not care
too much about fuel consumption, but if they do, they will not be
disappointed by the combined 9.9 l/km, or 28.5 mpg imp.
The 29 kW/40 hp gain in power has been achieved by tweaking the
engine management system and increasing the charge pressure, which evolve
from the Competition Package, that is available as an option for the M5 and
now is part of the standard specs of the 30 Jahre M5 ediiton. They also
include the modifications and revised and 10 mm lower chassis set-up with
firmer spring/damping tuning. Also the M Servotronic steering and M dynamic
Mode of the DSC system is part of the special edition’s package,
while an extensive package of adjustments has been implicated to further
increase performance.

black chrome. Special M light allow wheels are fitted with rubber in the
size 265/35 ZR 20 up front and 295/30 ZR 20 at the rear.

front passenger M multifunction seats, ’40 Jahre M5’ lettering
on the front door sill covers and a plaque with the number/300 referring to
