Biden Admin Commits $635 Million to EVs in his Final Day as President

Washington DC January 21, 2025; The AIADA Online reported that the Biden administration has left the building, but not before allocating a whopping $635 million to flesh out EV charging infrastructure throughout the nation.

While the Trump administration seems set on pumping the brakes on EV adoption, the charging infrastructure itself is already at the point of no return.

With or without the funds, electrification seems to be the future of on-the-road mobility. The $635 million allocation to EV charging infrastructure comes from the $2.5 billion 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the $5 billion National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula program.

According to Autoblog, $268 million will fund building the national fast-charging network across seven projects. The remaining $368 million will be allotted to expanding EV charging infrastructure in 42 projects focused on specific communities throughout the United States. In all, the 49 projects funded by the $635 million allocation will go towards building more than 11,500 EV charging ports in 27 states and four federally recognized tribes, as well as the District of Columbia.
