Ford is gearing up to launch a $30,000 midsize electric pickup in 2027, built on a streamlined Universal EV platform that cuts parts and boosts production efficiency. The truck is spacious, quick (think Mustang EcoBoost performance), and has its roots in a stealth skunkworks team rethinking EV costs from scratch. Backed by a combined $5 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing and battery infrastructure, the effort aims to create nearly 4,000 jobs and shift EV affordability into gear. If Ford nails the timing and pricing, this could be the most accessible electric truck yet, maybe even outselling gas models before 2028.

Rivian just opened its first East Coast Charging Outpost in Southampton, New York, nestled in a serene cedar-shingle building right in the Hamptons. With six fast chargers (including a trailer-friendly pull-through), 24/7 rest area and restroom access, free coffee, curated snacks, a kids’ sandpit, and locally inspired design, it feels more lounge than station. Located right on Montauk Highway and just minutes from local attractions like the Parrish Art Museum, it's quietly redefining what EV charging stops can be.
A 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck just shattered the EV range record, driving an astonishing 1,059.2 miles on a single charge, more than double its estimated EPA range. The feat wasn’t achieved with exotic tech, but through smart tweaks like high tire pressure, a tonneau cover, and low-speed cruising at 20-25 mph on public roads. GM engineers designed it as a real-world test, showcasing how far EV engineering has come when every detail is optimized. Though it's an extreme example, the data offers valuable insights for making future EVs even more efficient.
