For Immediate Release EXCLUSIVE LIVE "TV ON THE NET" BROADCAST OF THE LOS ANGELES & DETROIT AUTO SHOWS The Auto Channel to Present Coverage of America's Two Most Important Auto Shows LOUISVILLE, KY., & SACRAMENTO, CA., DECEMBER 12, 1997 - For the first time ever, automobile consumers and enthusiasts all over the world will be able to watch live TV coverage of the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show and the North American International Auto Show (commonly known as the Detroit Auto Show). The LA and Detroit Auto Shows are considered to be the premier consumer automotive expositions in the United States. The broadcasts will be available via The Auto Channel's Internet Network, "http://www.theautochannel.com". Working in cooperation with the Los Angeles Auto Show and Detroit's ABC Television affiliate, WXYZ-TV, the Internet broadcasts mark the first occasion that live video from these events will be available to a global audience or to an Internet audience. The Internet broadcasts can also be accessed through the Los Angeles Auto Show and WXYZ-TV Detroit Auto Show websites, "http://www.laautoshow.com" and "http://www.wxyzcars.com", respectively. Coverage of the Los Angeles Auto Show will begin on December 29th, at 8am PST, with two jam-packed days of new vehicle introductions, press conferences, and celebrity interviews. Porsche, BMW, Cadillac, Buick, Ford, Nissan, Lexus, Honda, and Toyota are among the manufacturers scheduled to unveil new models or significant updates On the afternoon of December 30th, The Auto Channel will broadcast the entire 4 hour "Automobiles and the Environment" Conference. This event follows hot on the tracks of other major global environment conferences, such as the one recently concluded in Kyoto, Japan. Robert C. Stempel, former General Motors Chairman, will be the Keynote Speaker. Bob Hayden and Mary Nichols will be the Moderators. Panel members include a long list of eminent auto industry leaders. After a two-day New Year's break, coverage of the LA Auto Show will pick back up on January 2nd, and continue through the conclusion of the event on January 11th. Daily live reports from the LA Convention Center will include consumer interviews, breaking news, in-depth profiles of the new models, and coverage of various exposition features. A live daily 30 minute show at 7pm PST will wrap-up each day's activities. The Auto Channel's broadcast team will include Mike Anson, Jack Nerad, Gregory Von Dare, and Bill Maloney. The broadcasts will emanate from a stage in the LA Convention Center rotunda. Anson and Nerad are co-hosts of the nationally syndicated "America On The Road" radio show. Von Dare is the host of the worldwide Armed Forces Radio program "In The Driver's Seat". Both radio shows can also be heard every week on The Auto Channel. Maloney is Executive Producer of The Auto Channel's LA Bureau. In presenting the Detroit International Auto Show, The Auto Channel will be picking up the live daily television feeds from WXYZ-TV. During Media Preview Week, from January 5th through the 8th, WXYZ-TV will air live 30 minute preview programs direct from Cobo Exhibition Center, at 11:30pm EST. These programs will be exclusively simulcast over the Internet by The Auto Channel. The daily shows will feature the most important news from the day's press conferences and new car unveilings. On Friday, January 9th, WXYZ-TV will present their annual live 90 minute Charity Preview Show. This program is a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes sneak preview of the Auto Show before it officially opens to the public. The 90-minute program will air from 7:30 to 9pm EST. The Auto Channel's News Director, Paul Dever, and Detroit News Desk Corespondent, Steve Ford, will anchor The Auto Channel's own live coverage of the Detroit Show. Ford is internationally known as "The Car Guy", and also produces and hosts a weekly radio show exclusively for The Auto Channel. The Auto Channel is one of the leading exponents of "TV on the Net". The Auto Channel recently completed three days of live broadcasts from the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, CA; and four days of live broadcasts from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week Trade Show in Las Vegas.
