2000 Toyota Echo -- Replacing the Tercel that retired in 1998, the all-new Echo is Toyota's attempt at re-vamping the entry-level market. Initially targeted at the "net-gen," that Echo has appealed to a large variety of consumers.
It's unique appearance, both inside and out have brought attention back to a previously ignored entry-level category. The newly designed twincam, 16-valve four-cylinder with VVT-I (Variable Valve Timing with intellighence) not only pumps out 108 horsepower, bit it also has excellent fuel economy and qualifies for LEV emission status.
