Car of the Week - October 8, 2001
2002 Infiniti Q45
![]() Impressive is the hot 4.5-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine producing 340 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque. We're talking 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. Impressive is its four-wheel independent suspension, including a new multilink rear setup for heightened handling, stability and steering feel. As we cruised at 75mph, we shut down the audio and climate systems and were treated to the Inifinti calling-card: that eerie and wonderful silence... ![]() Impressive are the seven-lens high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, an awesome 288-watt 8-speaker Bose audio system, and a Voice Control command system that lets you talk to your Q45 making numerous adjustments to the navigation, audio and climate control systems. We found this most effective when using the DVD based navigation system, zooming in and out on the map, as well as making sound system adjustments. More than just a high-tech attention-getter, voice recognition systems will help prevent thousands of accidents caused by driver visual distraction. ![]() Impressive as well is the "Birdview" rearview monitoring system - when you put the car in reverse you get a fish-eyed video view from a mini-cam right there on the 7 inch LCD monitor. Passengers loved the taller wider interior, the real wood trim and other luxurious appointments. Simply put, there is no way to drive this car and not be impressed. - Editor |
